What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment is a broad category of activities that keep people engaged, amused, or diverted. It has evolved into a significant industry that influences popular culture in areas such as television, movies, books, music, and games. The themes and images that appear in entertainment have a tendency to cross-over between different media, and this has contributed to the enduring popularity of many of these types of works.

The term derives from the Latin entretenement, which means to hold together or support; thus the clown at your child’s birthday party, a Broadway show, a stadium rock concert, or even your friends fighting over the last potato chip could all be considered entertainment.
