The Yale Daily News and Other Sources of News

Daily News

News articles are written to inform the public about current events. They often feature information about politics, the economy, and world affairs. They can also include sports events and celebrity gossip. Journalists who write news articles are obligated to be impartial in their reporting and should not take sides or show bias. In addition to writing news articles, reporters also write editorials, edit and take news photographs, and participate in press conferences.

A newspaper is a periodical publication consisting of pages with news, sports, entertainment, and advertising that is published on a regular basis. Traditionally, newspapers were printed on paper but in the 21st century many are now available online and on mobile devices. Some have color pages and some even have video content. Many major news outlets have websites where they post breaking news as it happens and offer commentary on events that are happening.

Unlike local papers which focus on events that affect the community, national and international publications will have a much wider audience and will report on noteworthy international events such as crises or wars. They will also cover sporting and entertainment events like the Olympics. While a lot of news can be found online, there will always be a need for print and other media to report on current affairs as they happen.

The Yale Daily News (YDN) is the oldest college daily newspaper in the United States and is published each day when classes are in session. YDN has been read by students since 1878 and its alumni have gone on to prominent careers in journalism and public service, including William F. Buckley, Lan Samantha Chang, John Hersey, Sargent Shriver, and Joseph Lieberman.

Most people get their news from social media and websites such as CNN, NPR, and The New York Times. However, it is important to understand that the information in these venues may not be accurate and is typically biased by the author’s personal opinion. News organizations should be held accountable for unbiased reporting but this is not always the case.

When it comes to local and regional news, a good source is the Daily News. This publication covers a wide range of topics from city to county and features intense news coverage, celebrity gossip, classified ads, comics, a sports section, and an opinion section. The news articles are written in an easy-to-read format and provide an in-depth look at the latest events.

The YDN Historical Archive is open to the public and contains more than 140 years of digitized issues of the Yale Daily News. The Archive is hosted by the Yale Library and is supported by an anonymous gift from a YDN alumnus. For more information, see the About page.
