This includes industries such as information technology, human resources, procurement, shipping and logistics, and finance. Companies require all of these industries and others to function, and each has its own unique responsibilities in the company. The key to a successful career in business services is having strong people skills and previous sales or customer service experience, along with the ability to create and execute company strategies. Other important skills include organizational abilities, time management, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
The benefits of a job in business services are pretty sweet, with employees having access to paid vacations, medical care and a competitive salary. These benefits are a great morale booster and encourage professionals to perform their duties well at the workplace.
In addition to these benefits, the job provides a good amount of flexibility for workers. Many jobs in the industry can be performed remotely, making it possible for workers to have a more flexible schedule and avoid having to commute to the office. This also means that workers can have more time to spend on hobbies and family and friends.
The industry is growing, and demand for business services will continue to increase. Global businesses have consolidated support functions such as IT, HR and procurement into shared services in low-cost locations to reduce costs and increase efficiency. This is called global business services (GBS). However, front-office functions like marketing and sales must still be managed locally to ensure that the company meets its customer’s needs.
There is a growing need for value-added business services in the logistics industry, which can provide added services such as picking, packing, labeling, arranging and marking, in addition to the basic services of transportation and storage. For example, in business-to-business shipping, value-added warehousing services can be integrated with distribution processes to speed up relationships between manufacturers and customers.
Moreover, the role of business services in the economy is becoming increasingly important, with the sector making up 11% of GDP and forming an essential part of the “serviceitisation” of the European economy. The EU’s internal market legislation and policy actions aim to remove barriers to business services and stimulate competitiveness in the sector.
To delete a service, click the Actions button () and select Delete Service. In SL1, you can select one or more services to display at the top of the list on the Business Services page, which is a process called favoriting services. You can also enable root cause analysis for a selected service to identify and resolve issues. You can also configure which metric or metrics are displayed on the Business Services page.
