The Entertaiment

The word Entertaiment has a long history. Its roots are in the medieval Latin intertenere, which combines the prefix inter, meaning “inside,” and tenere, the Latin form of an Indo-European root that means to stretch or expand. It was a perfect word for describing the massive industry that entertains us and, by extension, makes us so happy.

But the concept of entertainment is highly subjective. What is enjoyable for one person may be offensive to another. That is why the term entertainment needs to be viewed in a context of societal need and value. The fall issue of T E News explores this topic.
