In 1993, publisher Mortimer Zuckerman invested $60 million towards a state-of-the-art color press in an attempt to revitalize the struggling newspaper. The move paid off, and the Daily News began to see a profit again. It was around this time that the famous News Building was constructed, an official city landmark designed by John Mead Howells and Raymond Hood. Today, the building is home to TV station WPIX and a number of other offices.
